If Sidhu Observes Maun Vrat Forever, It Will Bring Peace To Both Congress & Country: Haryana Minister Anil Vij
As Ashish did not turn up for interrogation on Friday, Sidhu proceeded on a fast at the deceased local journalist’s house in Lakhimpur Kheri’s Nighasan tehsil.
New Delhi: Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij has hit out at Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu saying that if he observes a maun vrat (a fast of silence) forever, it will bring peace to both Congress and the country.
The comment came after Navjot Singh Sidhu ended his ’maun dharna’ on Saturday after the son of MoS Home Affairs Ajay Mishra Teni, Ashish Mishra, appeared before the crime branch in the ongoing investigation of Lakhimpur Kheri violence.

“Navjot Singh Sidhu has observed a vow of silence. If he obverses a vow of silence permanently, then the Congress will get a lot of peace and the country will also get a lot of peace,” Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij told news agency ANI in Chandigarh.
Targetting Congress, the minister said that the party is a ship that is about to sink.
“There is infighting in Congress. When a ship starts sinking, it starts to falter. In the same way, they are faltering again and again. This is indicating that the ship of Congress is about to sink,” Anil Vij remarked.
Speaking about the Lakhimpur Kheri case, he said: “The UP government is taking absolutely fair action”.
Meanwhile, he also appreciated the farmers of Haryana saying that they are very intelligent. “They know very well that burning of stubble damages the environment and also reduces the fertility of the land. Therefore, the farmers of Haryana are always cautious in this matter and the farmers are also informed about this from time to time by the government,” he said, as quoted by ANI.
Navjot Singh Sidhu’s ’Maun Dharna’
Navjot Singh Sidhu on Friday began a fast in UP’s Lakhimpur Kheri. Demanding the arrest of Union MoS Ajay Mishra’s son, Sidhu had said that he would go on hunger strike if action was not taken against him by Friday.
As Ashish did not turn up for interrogation after the first summon, Sidhu met the family of 28-year-old journalist Raman Kashyap, one of the eight people killed in the violence, and proceeded on a fast at their house in Lakhimpur Kheri’s Nighasan tehsil.
Accused Ashish Mishra on Saturday appeared for questioning before the special investigation team (SIT) in the crime branch of the Police Lines in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri violence.
The appearance came following the second summon served to him the previous day after he did not turn up for interrogation.
Following this development, the ’maun dharna’ that began from 6.15 pm on Friday outside the local journalist’s home, came to an end around 11.30 am on Saturday, news agency PTI reported.
