IAF Conducts Night-Vision-Goggles-Aided Landing Of C-130J In Eastern Sector Advanced Landing Ground: WATCH

The milestone highlights IAF's continued efforts to expand its capabilities, enhance its operational reach, and defence preparedness, directed towards safeguarding the country's sovereignty.

In another major milestone, the Indian Air Force on May 23 announced its successful execution of a Night Vission Googles (NVG) aided landing of an IAF C-130J aircraft at an Advanced Landing Ground (ALG) in the Eastern sector.

This milestone highlights IAF's continued efforts to expand its capabilities, enhance its operational reach, and defence preparedness, directed towards safeguarding the country's sovereignty.

The announcement of the successful NVG aided landing was made by IAF through a post on X.

Posting videos of the landing, IAF wrote on X: "Achieving another significant milestone, an #IAF C-130J aircraft carried out a successful Night Vision Goggles aided landing at an Advanced Landing Ground in the Eastern sector. IAF continues to expand capabilities, reinforcing commitment to safeguard nation's sovereignty by enhancing operational reach and defence preparedness."

The C-130J aircraft, known for its advanced technology and versatality, was used in the landing which showcased the proficieny and growth of the IAF personnel.

The use of NVG during night-time operations improves the force's capability to conduct operations in low light conditions, adding to its strategic advantage. Besides this, the ALGs play a critical role in enhancing the force's ability to repond quickly in case a contingency arises in remote areas.

C-130J is known for being the most advanced airlift and was delivered to India under a US Government Foreign Military Sales programme.

IAF's C-130J Super Hercules is a highly integrated and sophisticated configuration that is primarily designed to support India’s special operations requirement, and is suited to our country's mission environment.

In January, the aircraft, ultilised by IAF for special operations and humanitarian crisis, made a night landing at the Kargil airstrip. This was the first time that a landing was carried out by IAF at an airstrip near the Line of Control in Ladakh.

In November 2023, IAF successfully landed two C-130J Super Hercules military transport aircraft in Uttarakhand at an unfeasible airstrip. The mission was carried out to transport heavy engineering equipment that were required in the rescue of workers trapped inside an under-construction mountain tunnel in the Himalayan region.
