Nitish Kumar says not in race for PM's post, refutes rift in Bihar's Grand Alliance

New Delhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday made it clear that he has no intention of becoming Prime Ministerial candidate in 2019 general election even as the JDU leader refuted reports of a rift in Bihar's ruling Grand Alliance. "I do not have the capacity to become PM, I'm not the face of 2019 general election," Bihar CM said in a press conference. However, in the press conference he attacked the Congress party and said-"Congress is responsible for cracks in opposition". Talking about condition of Bihar politics CM said-"Mahagathbandhan in Bihar is unceasing". Even before the complete realisation of Mahagathbandhan at all India level, cracks appeared wide open. On Sunday, Bihar's ruling Janata Dal-United (JD-U) said, it will not attend RJD chief Lalu Prasad's "BJP hatao, desh bachao" rally here on August 27, a JD-U leader said. JD-U General Secretary Shayam Razak told the media that JD-U as a party would not attend the event but Chief Minister Nitish Kumar may in his personal capacity if he was invited by the RJD. The JD-U and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) along with the Congress are part of the ruling Grand Alliance in the state. Lalu Prasad has said the rally would be attended by Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, BSP chief Mayawati and Left parties. (With inputs from IANS)
