Happy New Year 2024: President Droupadi Murmu expressed her optimism for the year 2024 urging citizens take a pledge to build a prosperous nation. Kerala CM Vijayan urged citizens to resist divisive 'reactionary' forces.

Happy New Year 2024: President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday extended warm greetings to citizens on the eve of the New Year, urging them to take a collective pledge towards building a prosperous society and nation. In a statement released by the Rashtrapati Bhavan, President Murmu expressed her optimism for the year 2024, wishing for happiness, peace, and prosperity for all.

"May we continue to contribute to the progress of our country. Let us welcome the new year and take a pledge to build a prosperous society and nation," President Murmu affirmed in her message.

She highlighted the significance of the new year as an occasion to set forth new resolutions and goals for collective advancement.

"On the joyous occasion of the new year, I extend my warm greetings and best wishes to all Indians living in India and abroad," President Murmu stated.

Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar also extended his greetings to the nation, echoing President Murmu's sentiments for peace, prosperity, and happiness in the coming year.

"Greetings to every Indian for the New Year 2024! May the New Year bring in peace, prosperity and happiness to each and everyone. Let us embrace the dawn of the new year with a resolute commitment to contribute towards wholesome progress and prosperity of Bharat," Vice-President Dhankhar stated in his official remarks.

Happy New Year 2024: PM Modi's 'Nation First' Vision

Addressing the 108th Episode of 'Mann Ki Baat,' Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised the importance of working for the development of India. He urged citizens to prioritise the nation's well-being in all decisions and actions, stating, "Rashtra Pratham - Nation First - There is no greater mantra than this."

"May you all reach new heights of success in 2024, may you all stay healthy, stay fit, stay immensely happy - this is my prayer. In 2024, we will once again discuss the new achievements of the people of the country," PM Modi affirmed.

New Year 2024: Kerala CM Vijayan's Appeal For Resisting 'Divisive' Forces

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan called for New Year celebrations to symbolise harmony, secularism, love, brotherhood, and friendship. According to news agency PTI, he urged citizens to resist divisive 'reactionary' forces who he said are actively propagating 'sectarianism', stating, "Hate propaganda can only be countered by joining forces to shape a better society."

Kerala Assembly Speaker A N Shamseer and Leader of the Opposition V D Satheesan also extended their greetings on the occasion.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, among other political leaders, extended their New Year greetings. Chief Minister Stalin envisioned the coming year as ushering in a new thought and praised the achievements of the Dravidian model government, PTI reported.

Palaniswami wished for all-round prosperity and good health, while other leaders, including O Panneerselvam, Vaiko, and Kamal Haasan, conveyed their greetings to the people.

Puducherry Lt Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan called upon every citizen to contribute to India's massive progress and greater heights in 2024. Chief Minister N Rangasamy highlighted the territorial government's progressive schemes in 2023 and termed them as path-breaking, as reported by PTI.

Home Minister A Namassivayam, Agriculture Minister C Djeacoumar, Civil Supplies Minister Sai J Saravana Kumar, former Chief Minister V Narayanasamy, and leaders of various political parties also extended their greetings to the people on the eve of the New Year.
