'Go To Other States & Criticize Where Necessary': Sisodia Hits Back After Gujarat BJP Team Finds Delhi School In 'Poor' Condition
The 17-member delegation visited two mohalla clinics in Soniya Vihar and Chauhan Patti, both of which were not operational and a Delhi government school at Khajuri Khas.
New Delhi: Taking a dig at the saffron party, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Thursday said the BJP delegation from Gujarat failed to find any loopholes in Kejriwal-model of governance during its two-day visit to “inspect” the government-run mohalla clinics and schools in the national capital. He said that such delegations must go to other states and criticize where necessary.
This comes a day after a delegation of BJP leaders from poll-bound Gujarat found two mohalla clinics and a school in a "poor condition" in Northeast Delhi, news agency PTI reported.
According to the report, the 17-member delegation, including former ministers and legislators, visited two mohalla clinics in Soniya Vihar and Chauhan Patti, both of which were not operational and a Delhi government school at Khajuri Khas, the BJP leaders said.
“The reality of what (Chief Minister) Arvind Kejriwal touts as his Delhi Model of governance is totally different from what he falsely claims. The mohalla clinics are showpieces while we have also noticed that schools are not up to the mark, let alone being of global standards as the AAP claims,” PTI quoted one of the delegation members as saying.
Northeast Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari, who accompanied the Gujarat delegation, also said that the mohalla clinics listed on Delhi government's website are "dysfunctional" without doctors or medicines.
“The water and power supply that Kejriwal says is free in Delhi is a big farce. Poor people either do not get any piped water or, if it is available, it is dirty and unfit for use. We also met people who have received huge electricity bills despite minimum consumption,” PTI quoted another delegation member as saying.
Refuting the BJP claims, Sisodia said, "We are proud to say that despite roaming in Delhi for two days, they failed to find any discrepancies in our schools and mohalla clinics. They clicked a picture outside a mohalla clinic in northeast Delhi to depict that it was closed. But that clinic has been shut for a long time following NGT orders."
He also hit back saying it is a good idea that delegations of political parties visit other states to "learn" from each other.
“Leaders of Gujarat BJP had come to point out faults in schools and hospitals here. The idea was to belittle CM Kejriwal's model of governance. Happy they came, such delegations must go to other states, should learn, criticize where necessary,” he said.
"We are open to this idea. We will welcome delegations who want to come and see what we are doing. Our delegation will also visit Gujarat to see the work being done there," Sisodia added.
