'I Seek Forgiveness For Inconvenience': PM Modi Asks Delhi Residents To Make G20 Summit A Success

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday sought Delhi residents' support for making the G20 Summit a successful event.

G20 Summit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday urged the people of the national capital to help in making the G20 meeting a successful event. The much-anticipated summit will be held in Delhi on September 9-10 concluding the year-long deliberations on various issues of global concern. PM Modi said that the city will be hosting the mega G20 event and people may face certain inconveniences due to it, adding that "we have to ensure its success".

The Prime Minister also sought forgiveness for the trouble that G20 Summit arrangements may cause to residents of Delhi.

"I seek forgiveness from people of Delhi in advance for inconvenience G20 Summit arrangements may cause to them," PM Modi said while addressing a gathering outside Palam airport where he landed after meeting ISRO scientists in Bengaluru earlier today.

Noting traffic and other restrictions that will be imposed in Delhi during the stay of foreign guests for the G20 Summit, the PM said that people here have more responsibility than anyone else.

"...there will be so many guests coming...From 5-15th September, there will be a lot of inconvenience, I apologise for that in advance. These are our guests...traffic rules will be changed, we will be stopped from going to several places but some things are necessary..,(sic)" he added.

The Prime Minister also recalled his visit to South Africa for 15th BRICS Summit and said that he received congratulatory messages during BRICS for Chandrayaan-3.

"I went to attend BRICS in South Africa...I got a lot of congratulatory messages during BRICS for Chandrayaan-3. The whole world has sent congratulatory messages", he said, adding "when we achieve some success, we resolve to prepare for new heights (sic)".

"The point where Chandrayaan-3 landed, that point was named as 'ShivShakti'. Shiv ki baat hoti hein toh Shubham hota he aur Shakti ki baat hoti hein toh mere desh ke Nari Shakti ki baat hoti he'...Chandrayaan-2 point was named as 'Tiranga'.., (sic)" the Prime Minister further added.

PM Modi said that he has directed all government departments to involve space technology in the delivery of services to people in a transparent manner, as per PTI.

Sharing the experience of meeting ISRO scientists, PM said, "Earlier today, I was in Bangalore as I had decided to meet the scientists who helped India accomplish such a great feat. I was encouraged to see people who had come with national flags to celebrate the success of Chandrayaan. (sic)"
