New Delhi: Oil companies increased petrol and diesel prices Wednesday by 80 paise a litre across the country for the second consecutive day.
According to the new tariff, petrol in the national capital Delhi will cost Rs 97.01 per litre, while the price of diesel has been hiked to Rs 88.27 per litre.
People in Mumbai will have to pay Rs 111.67 for petrol and Rs 95.85 for diesel. Petrol price in Mumbai is the highest among metro cities in the country.
In Kolkata, the price of petrol is Rs 106.34 (increased by 83 paise) and diesel is 91.42 (increased by 80 paise).
Moving down south, the price of petrol in Chennai is now Rs 102.91, while diesel will cost Rs 92.95 per litre.

The hike in fuel prices comes after a gap of more than four months. In November last year, the government had cut excise duty on fuel in order to provide relief to consumers. Petrol price was at an all-time high when the government slashed duty on petrol by Rs 5 per litre and diesel by Rs10 a litre.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Opposition parties created a ruckus in the Rajya Sabha demanding rollback of increased prices of petrol and disesel.
