Farmers' Protests: Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Vadra React To Viral Photo Of Elderly Man Being Beaten; Attack PM Modi & BJP

New Delhi: Congress is clearly amping up its attack against the BJP-led centre as Former President Rahul Gandhi and Uttar Pradesh General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra cornered the union government over viral photos of farmers being beaten and arrangements made to stop them from entering the national capital to stage their protest. ALSO READ | Farmers' Protests: Division Over Protest Site After Delhi Police Allotted Nirankari Ground For 'Peaceful Demonstration' Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi on Saturday shared a viral photo. His Hindi caption translated to, "It is a very sad photo. Our slogan was 'Jai Jawan Jai Kisan' but today PM Modi's arrogance made the Jawan stand against the Kisan (farmer). This is very dangerous". Soon after Priyanka also shared multiple photos to attack the BJP government over the same. She also wrote in Hindi and her tweet translates to, "Look at the country's system under the BJP government. When the 'Kharabapati' friends of BJP come to Delhi, a red carpet is laid out for them. But the way for farmers to enter Delhi is being dug". In a rhetorical manner, she added, "If Delhi passes a law against farmers that's alright, but if farmers come to Delhi to express their views to the government, is that wrong?" ALSO READ | Farmers’ Protests: Delhi Metro Services Resume On All Corridors; To Be Normal On Saturday Capt Amarinder Singh-led Congress government in Punjab and Manohar Lal Khattar-led BJP government in Haryana are also at the opposite ends over the matter. Due to this, farmers trying to enter Delhi faced a lot of resistance on paths connecting Haryana and Delhi. However, after facing a tough confrontation with the police at different points across the Punjab-Haryana-Delhi border, Delhi Police finally gave them permission to hold "peaceful demonstration" at the Nirankari Ground in Burari. Hundreds of farmers had faced tear gas and water cannons before the announcement. After police gave permission to protestors, the Delhi government committed to providing basic facilities like drinking water, food and power supply to the farmers at Nirankari grounds. Earlier, Delhi Home Minister Satyendar Jain had denied permission to use stadiums as temporary jails for agitating farmers as Delhi Police had approached the government to allow them to use the city's nine stadiums as temporary jails due to the farmers' 'Delhi Chalo' march.
