Farmers' Protest: BJP MLA Arun Narang Thrashed In Punjab’s Muktsar

The untoward incident with Narang, the MLA from Abohar, took place as he arrived in Muktsar to attend a programme planned to protest against Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government over non-fulfillment of promises despite completing four years in office.

The farmers, who have been protesting against the three farm laws passed in September last year, allegedly thrashed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Arun Narang, tore his clothes and threw black ink on him in Malout town of Punjab’s Muktsar on Saturday.

The untoward incident with Narang, the MLA from Abohar, took place as he arrived in Muktsar to attend a programme planned to protest against Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government over non-fulfillment of promises despite completing four years in office.

The farmers also thrashed the other local BJP leaders, who were accompanying Narang.

As the protestors turned violent, the police intervened and manage to take out the MLA from the area with great difficulty. The cops initially took Narang to a nearby shop and then escorted him outside from the backdoor.

The BJP MLA was later admitted to a hospital in Abohar.

This comes as the farmers have been mounting pressure on Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government over the last few months to repeal the three farm laws. One of the major demands of the farmers is that the Minimum Support Price (MSP) be made a legal provision to assure a better price to them.
