Doctors Warn Of 'COVID-19 Explosion' As Delhi Defies Social Distancing Norms After Unlock
The warning from doctors about the resurgence in COVID-19 infections has come after pictures surfaced from the markets in which people can be seen violating Covid-19 rules, social distancing. Thousands of commuters crowded shopping malls and underground train stations in Delhi.
The second wave of coronavirus in India has now become mild i.e. the infection rate has come down considerably as compared to earlier. However, daily deaths due to Covid still remain a matter of concern.
Delhi government has now fully re-opened malls and shops after a strict five-week lockdown in the state. Amidst the relaxation in the lockdown, doctors and disease experts have warned that the situation may be worse compared to what it was in the second wave in the coming days if the Covid-19 guidelines are not followed as only about 5% of all eligible adults have been vaccinated against Coronavirus.

Ambrish Mithal of Max HealthCare in New Delhi took to Twitter to warn that people not following the safety norms strictly could lead to a resurgence in COVID-19 infections."Delhi's top #mall saw a footfall of 19,000 people last weekend- as soon as it reopened. Have we gone totally mad? (sic)" Ambrish Mithal of Max HealthCare in New Delhi said on Twitter. "Wait for #COVID19 to explode again- and blame the government, hospitals, country."
In April more than 28,000 cases were being reported and yesterday 131 new cases were reported. This is a dramatic drop in infection cases and if the lockdown was the primary reason people have to tread very carefully now.
