Rs 24,000 limit should be removed, says Rahul Gandhi: Highlights

New Delhi: Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi today continued his attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over demonetisation, accusing him of practising politics of "fear and anger" and exhorted partymen to defeat his ideology. • Talking about the foundation day Rahul said-"What is the Congress?. It means listening to you, understanding others. It made us understand the meaning of freedom."
In another press conference, on the same day, Congress VP said-"Modi snatched away financial right and financial independence of the people. Limit of withdrawal of Rs 24,000 must be removed." Whom PM Modi consulted and asked before taking this demonetisation decision, questioned Rahul. Tata Steel's business impacted: Meanwhile, private sector steel major Tata Steel said demonetisation has impacted its business, but exuded confidence that the situation would improve soon. "There is an impact of demonetisation on the performance of the company, but the impact is temporary," Tata Steel Managing Director (India and South East Asia) T V Narendran told reporters. Hailing the demonetisation decision, he said the impact of it was temporary and the situation is improving. Situation won't improve, says Sharad Pawar: NCP chief Sharad Pawar has hit out at the NDA government at the Centre for "mishandling" the post-demonetisation situation, and claimed people's woes would continue for at least a few months and the economy might suffer. "Only a day is left and 50 days (the period Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said would be needed for things to become normal) will be over. Let us see what happens, however, according to my knowledge, the situation will not change for at least a few months," he told reporters in his hometown Baramati.
