Shanti Bhushan claims 'Centre could implement presidential rule in Delhi by removing Kejriwal Govt
New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party Government in Delhi could face a major setback in the nearing future as per veteran lawyer Shanti Bhushan, who while addressing Swaraj India rally claimed that Presidential rule would be implemented in the national capital very soon.
In a conversation with ABP News post the rally, Bhushan said “Kejriwal’s Government didn’t understand Delhi’s constitution, and have been constantly working against the constitution”.
He added saying that “It has been clearly mentioned in the constitution that state government has to take decisions keeping the Centre in loop. And the constitution doesn’t give State government all the rights”. He also mentioned that “State government is supposed to send every policy idea to the lieutenant Governor, a practice from which Delhi government refrains”.
Further explaining the constitution, he added that “It is written in the constitution that if someone works against it then presidential rule shall be implemented in that state.
Expressing his certainty in the ongoing case in SC, he said “Supreme Court would not change Delhi HC order on the issue”.
The case is going on in SC:
AAP versus central government tussle is going on the Supreme Court.
In a major boost to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, SC in December 2016 had said in lieu of Kejriwal’s allegation that Narendra Modi interferes into his authority that “an elected government should have some power to run, otherwise the government cannot function.”
Earlier in 2016, AAP Government faced a severe setback as the Delhi High Court recognised Lt. Governor as the administrative head of the Delhi government.
