Delhi To Remain Under Lockdown Till June 7; Movement Of People Not Allowed, Some Business Relaxations Given

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) announced an extension of curfew on the movement of individuals, except for essential activities.

New Delhi: Even as Delhi's positivity rate has dipped below 5 per cent, CM Arvind Kejriwal-led state government on Saturday announced an extension of Covid-induced lockdown in the nation capital till June 7. 

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) announced an extension of curfew on the movement of individuals, except for essential activities, in the national capital which shall remain in effect till 5 am on June 7 (Monday).

The DDMA order also says that E-passes obtained by people for movement related to supply of essential goods and services will continue to be valid.

"DDMA directs to extend the curfew, on movement of individuals (except for essential activities or services) in the territory of NCT of Delhi, till 5 am on June 7," said the DDMA order.

Additionally, some activities will be allowed outside the containment zones in the city from May 31 including operations of manufacturing and production units within closed premises in approved industrial areas and construction activities with work sites.

However, the movement of workers or employees will be allowed only on the possession of e-pass.

In order to control the spread of Covid infection, there will be regular facilities of Covid sample testing at every factory unit and at construction sites.

Meanwhile, district administrations and district police in the national capital have been asked to strictly ensure that people are wearing masks and maintaining social distancing in all mandis, railway stations, ISBT, slum areas as well as people visiting the grocery shops and medical stores.

Residents Welfare Associations (RWAs) will also be responsible for ensuring compliance of Covid Appropriate behaviour by all the shopkeepers and residents.

The notification by DDMA came a day after CM Kejriwal announced gradual unlocking of Delhi which has been under strict lockdown since April 9 on the backdrop of sudden rise in daily Covid cases.
