Delhi's Ghazipur Flower Market Set For Rs 197-Crore Modern Makeover. See Details

Delhi Agricultural Marketing Board has invited bids for the Ghazipur flower market redevelopment project that will create modern facilities for commission agents, wholesalers and customers.

The Ghazipur flower market in Delhi is set to be developed into a new modern facility, and an estimated cost of over Rs 197 crore has been approved for it, news agency Press Trust of India reported Tuesday, quoting officials. The flower market located in East Delhi is one of the largest in the country. 

According to the report, the Delhi Agricultural Marketing Board has invited bids for the Ghazipur flower market redevelopment project, which will give the crowded place a modern makeover. There will be modern facilities for commission agents, wholesalers and customers with shops, cold storage, internal roads and other infrastructure, the officials told PTI.

Quoting official documents, the report said the scope of the development work at the market will include construction of shops and offices for 192 commission agents and 222 wholesalers. There will be a four-storey building spread over an area of over 10 acres, with basement, ground and three upper floors.

Also to be part of the development project, the documents showed, are parking areas and internal roads, external and internal electrifications, installation and commissioning of power generater sets, firefighting arrangements, water supply and sanitation, RO water plant, drainage of the entire area and a sewerage system.

According to reports, there will also be LED street lights and decorative lights for beautification, and an entrance with proper security.

The Rs 197.44-crore project is likely to be completed within 30 months, after the tender is awarded and work starts on the ground. The tendering process could take about a month or two.
