The gynaecologist, Anahita Pandole (55), and her husband Darius Pandole (60) survived the accident, while Mistry and Jahangir Pandole, brother of Darius, were killed.

New Delhi: A well-known gynaecologist in Mumbai, who was driving the car in which former chairman of Tata Sons, Cyrus Mistry, was travelling, lost control due to speeding and rammed into a divider on Sunday, Palghar Police said as reported by news agency PTI. According to Palghar Police, Mistry was travelling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai when his car hit the divider while trying to overtake another vehicle from the wrong side.

“Prima facie, it looks like the car driver lost control. Cyrus Mistry’s mortal remains are at a government hospital in Kasa. An Accidental Death Report (ADR) is being filed by the police, as per procedure,” ANI quoted Palghar Police sources as saying.

According to the PTI report, the gynaecologist, Anahita Pandole (55), and her husband Darius Pandole (60) survived the accident, while Mistry and Jahangir Pandole, brother of Darius, were killed.

The injured Anahita Pandole and Darius Pandole are currently undergoing treatment at a hospital, as per the report.

Mistry and Jahangir were in the back seats, police said, adding Darius was in the front seat with Anahita, who was at the wheel.

“A woman was driving the car and tried to overtake another vehicle from left side, but lost control and crashed into the road divider,” PTI quoted an eyewitness as saying.

The eyewitness, who works in a roadside garage, told a Marathi TV channel, “We rushed to the accident spot but did not touch the vehicle or the inured persons. In 10 minutes, help came and two injured persons were pulled out from the car and shifted by an ambulance to hospital. The other two were dead."

“Around 3 pm, the car met with an accident as it crashed into a divider on the bridge above Surya River while travelling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai. Four people were inside, out of them two people died on the spot and the rest two were shifted to a hospital,” Palghar Superintendent of Police Balasaheb Patil said.
