Delhi Covid-19 Tally

Meanwhile, Delhi continued to witness a downward spiral of infections with the city reporting 13,785 new Covid cases, 16,580 recoveries and 35 deaths in the last 24 hours.

However, today's tally was up by a little over 2,000 cases compared to what the national capital recorded on Tuesday - i.e. 11,684 Covid infections.

With today's numbers, active cases in Delhi now stand at 75,282 with the positivity rate being at 5.11 per cent.

Earlier in the day, Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain pointed out that positivity rate in the city is not low enough to lift the restrictions imposed to contain the spread of the infection.

Delhi had logged 28,867 Covid-19 cases last Thursday, the sharpest single-day spike since the beginning of the pandemic. The number then declined to 24,383 on Friday, 20,718 on Saturday, 18,286 on Sunday, 12,527 on Monday, and 11,684 on Tuesday.

Despite the spike recorded in the national capital last week, Jain said that daily hospital admissions have not increased for one week.

Jain reiterated that the ongoing wave of the pandemic has peaked and is on the decline in Delhi. "We hope that its descent is as sharp as its rise. Let us wait for a few more days," he said.
