Delhi Covid-19 Cases Breach 1 Lakh-Mark, Recovery Rate Stands At 71%; Mahrashtra Tally Over 2 Lakh
In the worst hit Maharashtra, the current count of COVID-19 patients stands at 2,06,619. 6,555 new patients have been identified as positive during the last 24 hours.
New Delhi: A day after overtaking Russia to become the third worst hit nation by COVID 19, India's national capital Delhi on Monday breached the 1-lakh mark as it recorded 1,379 new cases, pushing the tally to 1,00,823. As per the latest updates from the authorities, the efforts being made by the UT were significantly bolstered by the Central Government to ensure increase in testing. As a result of concerted and focused efforts by Government of India, the average number of samples being tested per day has witnessed a huge increase to reach an average of 18,766 samples per day between July 1 to 5.
In spite of significantly increased testing in Delhi, the positivity rate has seen a substantial decrease from about 30 pr cent to 10 per cent in the last three weeks. Delhi recorded 48 new death in last 24 hours, taking the death toll of the state to 3,115 till date.
In the press conference held earlier today, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal briefed about the COVID-19 status of the national capital and said that out of 25,000 active patients, 15,000 are being treated at home. Chief Minister said that death rate has also come down. "We've also started the country's first Coronavirus plasma bank. Our trials have shown that plasma therapy can help moderate patients improve significantly." Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) reported that financial capital Mumbai alone reported 1,201 new COVID-19 cases and 39 deaths on Monday , taking the total number of cases to 85,326 including 57,152 recoveries and 4,935 deaths in the city. So far more than 1.11 lakh patients have been cured and discharged from the hospitals in the state, leaving the total active cases at 86,040. With the death of 151 more patients, total deaths in the state so far has reached 8,822. Meanwhile, BMC has procured one lakh ICMR approved Rapid Antigen Test kits for launching universal testing in the Mumbai.
