Coronavirus Outbreak: Confirmed Cases In India Reaches 31 As Delhi Resident Tests Positive

Though only a small number of novel Coronavirus cases have been reported in the country, it is a must to take all possible preventive measures to stop its spread.

New Delhi: As many as 31 cases of the deadly Coronavirus have been confirmed in India so far, with the latest one being reported in the national capital on Friday. This is second positive case to have been confirmed in Delhi this week. According to reports, the person who has been infected of the virus is a resident of Uttam Nagar and has a travel history to Malaysia and Thailand. The total number of positive cases in India has significantly surged this week. The large batch of fresh cases was reported on Wednesday when 15 Italian tourists were tested positive of the Coronavirus, that has so far claimed more than 3000 lives and infected close to 100,000 people across the world. Earlier this week, two positive cases of Coronavirus were reported, one in Delhi and the other in Telangana. The Delhi patient had returned from Iran on February 25, while The Telangana patient had a history of travel to Dubai. Even the upcoming combined shooting World Cup in the national capital was on Friday postponed to May, while an Olympic test event in Tokyo stood cancelled due to the global outbreak. All central government employees were exempted from marking attendance through Aadhaar-based biometric system as a preventive measure to check the spread of the Covid-19, according to a Personnel Ministry order. Reserve Bank governor Shaktikanta Das assures that the central bank will take every measure needed to secure the economy against the challenges arising from the Coronavirus epidemic. The death toll in China from Coronavirus touches 3,042 with 30 new fatalities and confirmed cases rising to 80,552.
