Coronavirus Cases Today: India Reports 60,753 New Infections; Active Cases Lowest After 74 Days

New Delhi: India has reported 60,753 new cases in the last 24 hours while 1,647 people succumbed to the infection. Meanwhile, India's active caseload further declined to 7,60,019, and active cases lowest after 74 days.

Daily recoveries continue to outnumber the daily new cases for the 37th consecutive day.

Meanwhile, the recovery rate increased to 96.16 percent while the weekly positivity rate remains below 5 percent, currently at 3.58 percent.

The daily positivity rate is at 2.98 percent, less than 5 percent for 12 consecutive days.

The testing capacity has been ramped up with 38,92,07,637 total tests conducted. Of these, 19,02,009 samples were tested yesterday. 27.23 crore vaccine doses have administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive.

Maharashtra on Friday recorded 9,798 new Covid-19 cases, taking its case tally to 59,54,508, while 198 fatalities raised the death toll to 1,16,674, the health department informed.

Of 198 deaths, 133 occurred in the last 48 hours while 65 took place in the last week. Another 450 deaths which had taken place earlier were added after reconciliation of records. The death toll, overall, went up by 648.

Discharged patients outnumbered new infections. With 14,347 patients getting discharged during the day, the total of recoveries reached 56,99,983.

There are 1,34,747 active cases in the state.

The national capital on Friday reported 165 new Covid-19 cases, while its daily test positivity rate stood at 0.22 percent, according to the health bulletin issued by the Delhi government.

A total of 14 persons succumbed to Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, taking the national capital's overall death toll to 24,900.

During the same time period, 260 people recovered from the disease, taking the national capital's total recoveries to 14,04,688 till date.

Delhi presently has 2,445 active cases, of which 698 are under home isolation.

Meanwhile, active Covid-19 cases fell below the one lakh mark in Tamil Nadu on Friday after an 8-day gap with the state reporting 89,009 infections.

8,633 fresh cases pushed the total caseload to 24.06 lakh.

The toll touched 30,835 with the addition of 287 deaths.

Active cases fell below the two-lakh mark in the state on June 10 and one lakh on June 17.

19,860 people were discharged, taking the total to 22,86,653 leaving 89,009 active infections, a health department bulletin said.
