India Reports 36K Coronavirus Cases In Last 24 Hrs, Active Cases Lowest In 149 Days
India has registered over 36K Coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours as Kerala remains to be the major contributor to the caseload.
Corona Update: India has reported 36,401 new Coronavirus cases and 39,157 recoveries in the last 24 hrs, as per Health Ministry. The country has reported 530 deaths due to the virus taking the total death to 4,33,049.
Total recoveries: 3,15,25,080
Active cases: 3,64,129
The active cases are lowest in 149 days.
Kerala
Registering continuous surge in Coronavirus cases, Kerala has recorded over 21,000 infections for the second consecutive day. With 21,427 new cases, the state’s cumulative tally since the outbreak of the pandemic in January last year rose to 37,45,457. Its toll went up to 19,049 with 179 more deaths. On Tuesday, the state had recorded 21,613 news cases.
As many as 18,731 people have been cured of the infection since Tuesday, taking the total recoveries to 35,48,196 and the number of active cases to 1,77,683, a state government release said.
In the last 24 hours, 1,38,225 samples were tested and the TPR was found to be 15.5 per cent. So far, 2,98,23,377 samples have been tested, it said.
Maharashtra
Just seven districts, including Pune, account for the bulk of the COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, while half a dozen other districts have less than ten active cases currently. This information was revealed in a presentation made before Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and his cabinet colleagues on Wednesday. Maharashtra, the worst coronavirus-affected state in the country, has 36 districts.
There is no active COVID-19 case in Nandurbar district as of now, while Dhule, Washim, Yavatmal, Bhandara, Wardha, and Gondia districts have less than ten coronavirus patients under treatment, said an official. Districts such as Parbhani, Hingoli, Nanded, Amravati, Akola, Buldana, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli have less than 100 active cases of the infection.
