INDIA Bloc Meeting In Mumbai
All the main leaders of the anti-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) bloc, which has more than two dozen parties, will gather in a luxury hotel in suburban Mumbai on August 31 and September 1 to discuss and chalk out their strategies to take on the BJP in general elections next year.
The first meeting of the bloc was held in June in Patna, while the second gathering was in Bengaluru in July, where its name Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) was finalised. The grouping has been formed with the aim of taking on the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the 2024 parliamentary polls.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, the Bihar CM Nitish Kumar also confirmed that he would be attending the meet and added that there was nothing personal that he wished for. Notably, Kumar had many times denied that he wished to become the Prime Minister, saying that he was not seeking anything personal from the bloc.
In another update, the alliance will also decide on the names of the 11 members of the coordination committee that will be formed to oversee the working of the bloc. However, it is unclear if the committee coordinator/convenor will be chosen at this meeting.
