Cloudbursts, heavy rains wreak havoc in Uttarakhand; Dust storm kills 5 in UP, Delhi
Several incidents of cloudbursts were reported from parts of Uttarakhand even as heavy rains wreaked havoc in parts of the state, including Pauri, Uttarkashi and Tehri on Friday.
NEW DELHI: Several incidents of cloudbursts were reported from parts of Uttarakhand, including Pauri, Uttarkashi and Tehri on Friday.
Three children were swept away by flood waters after heavy rains in Uttarkashi's Gangtadi, two of which were rescued while one is still missing.
The SDRF team was dispatched in these areas and rescued operation was also launched.
Another cloudburst occurred at Bamorth village in Pauri district this sweeping away six cowsheds in which a bullock was killed and as many as 10 other livestock were injured.
The cloudburst occurred at the top of a hillock in Bamorth village in Thalisain block of the district and the debris and muck flowing down washed away the cowsheds, a police official Praveen Rawat said.
"One bullock was killed and 10 other livestock were injured as a huge amount of muck inundated the cowsheds," he said.
Several hectares of crops have been destroyed due to cloudburst and heavy rain in Ghansali area of Tehri.
The Met Department had earlier issued a warning of heavy rains for three days in the state.
Meanwhile, a strong dust storm hit Delhi-NCR and parts of Western Uttar Pradesh throwing life out of gear.
