Civil Servants Must Work With Dedication, Maintain Principle Of Anonymity: Vice President Dhankhar To IAS Officers

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar urged IAS Officers to strive diligently for better service delivery and public grievance resolution while upholding the concept of anonymity.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar Wednesday urged IAS officers to strive diligently for better service delivery and redressal of public grievances while upholding the principle of anonymity, news agency ANI reported. As many as 175 IAS officers of the 2020 batch, who are posted as assistant secretaries in several ministries of the government, called on V-P Dhankhar at Upa-Rashtrapati Nivas along with S. Radha Chauhan, Secretarty, Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), and other senior officials from the DoPT.

In his address to the civil servants, Dhankhar said: "You owe your highest allegiance to the Constitution and must always strive to preserve and uphold the rights guaranteed under it. Attracting attention to oneself or taking political positions must be avoided at all costs."

The Vice President reminded the officers that "today's citizen aspires to have a voice in the processes of policy formulation and implementation". As per his suggestion, a public servant's empathetic attitude towards the regular citizens impacts how satisfied they are with government services. He urged the officers to serve as "role models" in this 'Attitude changing mission' of the government.

Dhankhar observed that officers of the 2020 batch come from diverse educational backgrounds such as engineering, management, medicine, arts, and law, and suggested that they must utilise this to deliver high-quality outputs.

According to the ANI report, the Vice President was pleased to hear that the class had a significant number of female IAS officers, and said: "It is an encouraging development that women are now leading in all fields, including administration and governance."

He sent the class of 2020 his warmest wishes for success for their future endeavours.
