Civil Registration System Report Is In. Know Which States Register Birth, Death In Stipulated 21 Days

According to the latest CRS, among the Hindi belt, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand have the poorest record of registration of birth and death completed within the prescribed time limit of 21 days. 

New Delhi: The Centre published the Civil Registration System (CRS) report 2020 based on birth and death reports on May 3. According to released data, death registration increased by 4.75 lakh in 2020 as compared to 2019. There was an increase of 4.87 lakh and 6.90 lakh death registrations in 2018 and 2019 respectively. Meanwhile, the number of registered births has decreased to 2.42 Crores in 2020 from 2.48 Crores in 2019.

In this report, CRS has kept the figures of states issuing birth certificates separately and the figures of states issuing death certificates separately.

Apart from this, CRS divided these figures into 4 different parts, in which the first is registration of birth/death completed within the prescribed time limit, 50 per cent or less, the second is above 50 per cent and less than or equal to 80 per cent, and the third is above 80 per cent and less than or equal to 90 per cent. And the fourth is above 90 per cent.

According to the latest CRS, among the Hindi belt, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand have the poorest record of registration of birth and death completed within the prescribed time limit of 21 days.
