18-Yr-Old Migrant Labourer From West Bengal Abducted, Sexually Assaulted In Autorickshaw At Chennai
After arriving at Chennai's Kilambakkam bus terminus, she was waiting to board a bus to Madhavaram when an autorickshaw driver approached and abducted her.

An 18-year-old migrant worker from West Bengal was allegedly abducted and sexually assaulted in an autorickshaw near the Kilambakkam bus terminus on Monday night. The All Women Police have registered a case and a manhunt is underway to apprehend the perpetrators.
According to officials from Tambaram Police Commissionerate, as per a report on The Hindu, the victim, who had been working in Salem, had traveled to Chennai to visit a relative in Madhavaram. After arriving at Kilambakkam bus terminus, she was waiting to board a bus to Madhavaram when an autorickshaw driver reportedly approached her offering to drop her at her destination. When she refused, the driver allegedly forced her into the vehicle.
The situation escalated when, after traveling a few kilometers, two more individuals joined the autorickshaw. The victim was threatened with a knife and allegedly sexually assaulted as the vehicle moved along GST Road and later onto Irumbuliyur Road.
Hearing the girl’s cries for help, bystanders alerted the police control room who traced the autorickshaw, reported The New Indian Express. However, the assailants managed to escape by entering a narrow street in Nerkundram, where they dropped the victim and fled the scene.
The Tambaram city police have launched a thorough investigation, reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspects. Two special teams have been formed to track down the three individuals involved in the crime.
The incident also drew flak from Tamil Nadu BJP Chief Annamalai. Taking to X, Annamalai said, "An 18-year-old girl was abducted in an auto rickshaw outside the Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus in Kilambakkam and was sexually assaulted. She was saved by a good samaritan who dialled the police control room after hearing the girl’s cry for help. Sexual assault across TN has become a horrifying reality, with drugs becoming an easily accessible commodity."

"How many more victims before authorities ensure safer streets for our sisters??? Has the TN Govt deliberately become complacent to give drug peddlers a free run?" he said.
