Chhattisgarh: 15Kg IED Planted By Naxals Defused By Security Forces

The security forces recovered and defused the IED which was planted by Naxalites to harm the soldiers of 212 Battalion CRPF and District Force.

Security forces near Chhattisgarh's Camp Potkapalli recovered 15 kilograms of improvised explosive device (IED), reported news agency ANI on Tuesday.

The IED was planted to harm the soldiers of 212 Battalion CRPF and District Force who were out on a joint operation from Camp Potakpalli of the Kistaram police station area, the news agency reported further. The IED was defused on the spot during Area Domination by 212 Battalion CRPF and district forces

Potkapalli under Sukma division is considered to be the "core" territory of the Left Wing Extremists.

Last month, two security personnel sustained injuries after a pressure IED planted by Naxalites detonated in Sukma. The blast occurred at approximately 10:15 am in the Kistaram police station area, where a joint team of security personnel was patrolling to provide security for road construction work.

The injured soldiers belonged to the Central Reserve Police Force's 217th battalion, the 208th battalion of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), an elite unit of the CRPF, and the district force.

Earlier in December, a man, identified as Komal Manjhi, was hacked to death with an axe, allegedly by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district.

As per a senior police officer, the incident took place in Bade Gobra village as a polling crew, backed by security officials, was returning after conducting voting.
