Chandrayaan 2 Landing: Final Countdown! Excitement Grips Nation As ISRO Close To Moon Touchdown

Owing to the excitement of people across the country and even the world regarding Chandrayaan 2 landing on Earth's natural satellite, ISRO officials have taken adequate measures to make sure viewers do not miss the live streaming of the India's historic moment.

New Delhi: Congratulations India! Tonight is going to be a historic night for over a billion people in the country as the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will finally attempt soft-landing of the Chandrayaan 2 on Moon's south pole surface. Launched on July 22, Chandrayaan 2 will attempt a touchdown near the moon’s south pole in wee hours of Saturday. Chandrayaan-2's lander Vikram along with a rover 'Pragyan' is currently revolving around the Moon and will begin its descent on to the lunar surface shortly after midnight. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived at the ISRO Control Room, ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) facility in Bengaluru to witness India's gigantic feat in space research himself. As per reports, the prime minister will address the nation shortly after Chandrayaan 2 makes its landing on the lunar surface of the moon. "Modi landed at the Yelahanka base of the IAF on the city's northern outskirts at 9.40 p.m. for an overnight stay at a star hotel, which is near to the space agency's network centre to witness Vikram's landing on the moon between 1.30-2.30 a.m.," an official told news agency IANS. Governor Vajubhai Vala, Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, city Mayor Gangambike Mallikarjun, Union Ministers D.V. Sadananda Gowda and Pralhad Joshi, ruling BJP's state unit President Nalin Kumar Kateel and top officials were present at the air base to welcome Modi, visiting the city for the first time after the recent Lok Sabha elections. The Prime Minister will leave the city from the air base around 9 a.m on Saturday. The successful landing of Chandrayaan 2 on the Moon's lunar surface is of paramount importance to both ISRO and India as it would place the country in an elite bloc of nations who have achieved this feat including the United States, Russia and China. However, with the successful soft landing, ISRO will become the first space-agency to make a soft landing on the south pole of Moon. After the landing by Vikram lander, the Pragyan rover will roll out to explore the surface of the Moon. Owing to the excitement of people across the country and even the world regarding Chandrayaan 2 landing on Earth's natural satellite, ISRO officials have taken adequate measures to make sure viewers do not miss the live streaming of the India's historic moment. Some of country's top dignitaries including Prime Minister Narendra Modi with be watching Chandrayaan 2 landing live from the ISRO Control Room, ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) facility in Bengaluru. Media has also been invited to watch and relay the same from ISRO Control Room. As many as 70 school children who performed exceedingly well in the ISRO Space Quiz will also be present at ISTRAC to watch Chandryaan 2 landing on Moon with PM Modi. As ISRO is all geared up to make the final push, people from across the country and abroad eagerly want to know when will Chandrayaan 2 land on Moon and how to watch the live streaming of the same. Chandrayaan 2 Moon Landing Date and Time:

Chandrayaan-2, which was launched on July 22, will make the historic soft-landing on Moon in the wee hours of Saturday. Chandrayaan 2’s lander Vikram will start descending between 1 am and 2 am on September 7. There will the final touchdown of Chandrayaan 2 on Moon's lunar surface between 1.30 am and 2.30 am, followed by the Rover roll out between 5:30 am and 6:30 am.

Chandrayaan 2’s historic soft-landing on Moon can be watched live on ABP News Channel and its websites including ABP Live and ABP News. You can also follow ABP Live's official Facebook page and Twitter handle for real-time updates. ISRO will also telecast the updates on its website, isro.gov.in from its control room. The same will stream on the Press Information Bureau (PIB) YouTube channel and Twitter page. Besides, National Geographic, yesterday (September 3) announced it will also cover the launch. Note: In case you miss the live streaming as it will take place on wee hours, the landing videos will be available on ABP Live website and all other social media platforms. Completed in an unbelievable budget of just Rs 978 crore,  Chandrayaan 2 is an unmanned moon mission of India. According to ISRO, the cost of satellite was Rs 603 crore and GSLV MK III (which carried Chandrayaan 2) cost stood at Rs 375 crore. On August 21, Chandrayaan 2 sent its first Moon image captured by Vikram Lander at a height of about 2,650 km from the lunar surface. The spacecraft comprises three segments—the Orbiter (weighing 2,379 kg, eight payloads), the lander Vikram (1,471 kg, four payloads), and rover Pragyan (27 kg, two payloads).
