Centre Approves Rs 1066.80 Cr For 6 Flood-Hit States, Amit Shah Says ‘Modi Govt Stands Resolutely Beside’ Them

The central government has allocated Rs.1066.80 crore from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Kerala, and Uttarakhand, aiding their recovery from floods and landslides.

In a bold move by the central government, a total of Rs.1066.80 crore has been approved for the flood- and landslide-affected states of Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Kerala, and Uttarakhand as part of the central share under SDRF. In a post on X, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Modi government stands resolutely beside the states in all the situations.

The Union Home Minister further said that besides financial aid, providing all logistic assistance, including deployment of the requisite NDRF, Army, and Air Force, has been the top priority. He also said that more than Rs. 8,000 crore from SDRF/NDRF funds has been provided to 19 states this year.

Among the six affected states, Assam has received Rs. 375.60 crore, Rs. 29.20 crore was given to Manipur, Rs. 30.40 crore to Meghalaya, Rs. 22.80 crore to Mizoram, Rs 153.20 crore to Kerala, and Rs. 455.60 crore to Uttarakhand, as Central share from State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF). 

These states have been severely affected due to the extremely heavy rainfall, floods and the landslides during the monsoon.

Indian Army activates relief ops in northeast, over 3,800 rescued

In Northeast, the Indian Army has launched an extensive humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations (HADR), following heavy rain and flood in several states of North East, according to an official release issued on Thursday. The army has so far deployed 40 relief columns across the region and rescued a total of 3,820 people, it said.The military force has launched the exercise under Operation Jal Rahat-2 with coordinated deployment across Nagaland, Assam and Manipur.These efforts are being led by Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) in collaboration with local civil administration, the statement said.
