'Cabinet Decisions Will Benefit Migrants, Fishermen, Poor, Senior Citizens': PM Modi
PMMSY is a Rs 20,050- crore scheme that has been launched to promote 'Blue Revolution' in the country through sustainable development. The scheme will be implemented in the next 5 years from FY 2020-21 to FY 2024-25.
New Delhi: A week after Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced economic stimulus package worth Rs 20-lakh crore, the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday took several more decisions for the welfare of Indians who suffered income losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Taking to his personal Twitter handle, PM Modi in a series of Tweets, said that today’s Cabinet meeting focused on welfare of migrants, poor, senior citizens, easier availability of credit, harnessing opportunities in the fisheries sector. "They will benefit several citizens," PM tweeted.
In another tweet, Prime Minister mentioned about the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) which focuses on revolutionising the fisheries sector. PMMSY is a Rs 20,050- crore scheme that has been launched to promote 'Blue Revolution' in the country through sustainable development. The scheme will be implemented in the next 5 years from FY 2020-21 to FY 2024-25. "It will invigorate it with latest technology, infrastructure and ensure financial assistance. Our hardworking fishermen will gain immensely," said PM Modi in a Twitter post.During today’s Cabinet meeting, important decisions were taken which are focused on welfare of migrants, poor, senior citizens, easier availability of credit, harnessing opportunities in the fisheries sector. They will benefit several citizens.

The central government also took decisions for the development of food processing sector which is expected to considerably contribute to PM Modi's Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-reliant India) vision. According to the reports, Modi-led government launched a new scheme for Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises which shall provide a big boost to the SHGs/FPOs/Cooperatives and micro food businesses and ensure adequate livelihoods for rural-urban communities. The scheme is expected to generate nearly 9 lakh skilled and semi-skilled jobs. "Important decision of the Cabinet that will contribute to a vibrant food processing sector. It will also strengthen the efforts towards Atmanirbhar Bharat," PM Modi posted to the micro-blogging site.Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana will revolutionise the fisheries sector. Among the various schemes that got Cabinet's nod, one specifically focused for senior citizens The Union Cabinet gave a green signal to ‘Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana’ (PMVVY), a social security scheme for senior citizens, which will ensure them income security by providing an assured minimum pension to our old age people.Important decision of the Cabinet that will contribute to a vibrant food processing sector.
