New Delhi: Union finance Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted the major economic efforts undertaken by the Narendra Modi government during its last five years at the ABP Shikhar Sammelan, a budget conclave,  at New Delhi on Saturday.  He lashed out at the Congress saying that it had ruined the nation’s economy through a spree of mega scams. He said that the BJP government inherited a weak economy from the Congress and has taken innovative measures to bring it back to track. Piyush Goyal threw some insights into the Interim Budget which he presented in front of the Lok Sabha on Saturday. The interim finance minister pointed out that all the measures taken by government were taken to improve the condition of the poor and marginal farmers.  He denied any sort of 'Jumla' or political stunt by the government in the interim budget as the Modi government had made these proposals before they lost the state assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. Goyal added that there was no confusion over the income tax rebate offered to citizens earning income upto Rs 5 lakhs. He said that the revision in the income tax slabs would help 85 to 90 percent outside the tax purview. Defended the BJP govt on the recently unemployment figures released by the NSSO which pegged the at an all time high, Piyush Goyal said that the data compilation technique by the government institution is primitive and needs a complete overhaul. He said that the data did not reflect the true undertaken by the Modi Govt. Goyal added that the government shall go into depth and analyse carefully if the data has been compiled and measured correctly Speaking on Modi government's Ayushmaan Bharat healthcare scheme, Goyal said that the scheme would cover and benefit the middle income group citizens besides the poor He added that the Modi Govt envisages good quality preventive healthcare for each and every citizen in the nation. He concluded by saying that preventive healthcare, wellness and Yoga takes centre stage in Modi Government’s healthcare scheme
