From The Court Archives: Story Of 'Bollywood-Like' Chance Eyewitness Sunil Kulkarni In BMW Hit & Run Case
According to initial eye-witness statement, it was alleged that Sanjeev Nanda saw beneath the car after the accident, but one of the co-accused present inside the car asked him to rush, saying the "people keep dying in India."
On January 10, 1999, at around 4:45 AM, Sanjeev Nanda, Grandson of ex-Naval Chief and son of famous arms dealer Suresh Nanda hit seven persons with his black BMW car. Only one out of the seven people survived, while six died on the spot. It was alleged that when the BMW crashed into the people on the road, a few of them flew in the air and hit the bonnet and a few were stuck under the car and were dragged on to a point where the car hit the central verge.
