'BJP Testing Ideas To See Reaction': Rahul Gandhi On Kangana's Farm Laws Remark, Asks 'Who Decides Govt Policy?'

Rahul Gandhi attacked PM Modi and BJP over Kangana Ranaut's remarks regarding farm laws. He asked PM Modi to clarify who decided the government's policies.

The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday reacted to BJP MP Kangana Ranaut's suggestion that the three farm reform laws that were scrapped after protests should be brought back. Amid the ongoing controversy over her proposal, the senior Congress leader demanded a clarification from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and questioned "Who is deciding the government's policy? A BJP MP or PM Modi?"

In a post on X, Gandhi also warned that if PM Modi ever decided to revive the scrapped farm laws again then the opposition's I.N.D.I.A bloc would stand against it firmly.

"BJP keep testing ideas. They tell someone to present an idea to the public and then observe the reaction. This is exactly what happened when one of their MPs talked about reviving the farmer laws, which were black laws. Modi Ji, please clarify whether you are against this or if you are up to mischief again," Gandhi said.

Rahul Gandhi also mentioned that the alliance would never forget how they were not allowed two minutes of silence for those who died during the farmers' protests.

"Will those farmer laws be revived or not? If they are, I guarantee that the entire INDIA alliance will stand against you. 700 people were martyred; we need to remember and respect them," he added in a video message.

Rahul Gandhi also raised question on who decided the government policies and stressed that PM Modi will have to apologise again if any decision taken by the ruling government harms the farmers of the country. "Who is deciding the government's policy? A BJP MP or Prime Minister Modi? Even after the martyrdom of more than 700 farmers, especially the farmers of Haryana and Punjab, the BJP people are not satisfied," he wrote.

"INDIA will not allow any conspiracy of BJP against our farmers to succeed - If any step is taken to harm the farmers, Modi ji will have to apologise again," Gandhi added.

The controversy began after the actor-politician suggested revival of the repealed farm laws, following which the BJP distanced itself from her stance and the Opposition lambasted her for making such a suggestion.

Earlier today, she issued an apology publicly for disappointing people and stressed that she would remember her opinions are no longer personal but a reflection of the party.
