Tejashwi Yadav Leaves ED Office After 8 Hours Of Questioning In Land-For-Jobs Case

Tejashwi Yadav, the scion of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, was at the ED office in Patna to face queries regarding his involvement in the Land-for-jobs case.

Tejashwi Yadav, the former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), faced an eight-hour session of questioning by Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials. The interrogation, conducted at the ED office in Patna, is part of the agency's money laundering probe into the alleged land-for-jobs scam.

Tejashwi Yadav, the scion of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, arrived at the ED office at 11:35 am to face queries regarding his involvement in the contentious case. This development comes on the heels of Lalu Prasad's nine-hour questioning by ED officials on Monday. The central probe agency had issued fresh summons on January 19, directing both father and son to appear for questioning.

Responding to the ongoing investigations, RJD MP Manoj Jha voiced strong concerns about the alleged misuse of central investigation agencies by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). According to news agency PTI, he claimed, "The BJP is using the ED, CBI and IT Department against those it is afraid of... That is why it is trying to break (opposition parties) through these central agencies."

Shakti Singh, RJD’s Member of Legislative Council (MLC), defended Tejashwi Yadav, asserting that he was a minor at the time of the purported scam. Singh argued, "It’s a known fact that Tejashwi Yadav was a minor at the time when the alleged scam took place. BJP leaders are ruffled as he provided a large number of jobs to people in the previous 'Mahagathbandhan' government in Bihar."

The RJD was the largest party in the previous 'Mahagathbandhan' coalition.

In response to the RJD's allegations, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Samrat Choudhary countered, "When Lalu Prasad was the CM, he was involved in the fodder scam. When he was the Railways Minister, the land-for-jobs scam took place... The ED will certainly investigate the case", as quoted by PTI.

The 'land-for-jobs' scam, at the heart of these investigations, revolves around alleged appointments in the Railways in exchange for land parcels during the period between 2004 and 2009.
