Bihar Government: Nitish Kumar Returns As CM, Tarkishore Prasad & Renu Devi Swear-In As Dy CMs | Full List Of Ministers

Bihar Government Formation: Over a dozen ministers along with Chief Minister-designate Nitish Kumar sworn-in in the oath-taking ceremony on Monday evening at the Raj Bhawan in Patna.

A day after being unanimously elected as the leader of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar, Janata Dal United (JDU) president Nitish Kumar on Monday, took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for his fourth consecutive term. Over a dozen ministers along with Chief Minister-designate Nitish Kumar sworn-in in the oath-taking ceremony on Monday evening at the Raj Bhawan in Patna.  ALSO READ | Bihar Govt Formation HIGHLIGHTS: Nitish Kumar Takes Oath For The 7th Time As Bihar Chief Minister Kumar-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar, won a majority of 125 in the 243-seat assembly. Nitish Kumar's JD(U) managed to win only 43 seats, and Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) four each, compared to the BJP which managed to secure a victory on 74 seats in the 243-member Bihar Assembly. Here’s the list of ministers who took oath today: Nitish Kumar (JDU): Chief Minister Janata Dal-United chief Nitish Kumar, who had faced anti-incumbency after three terms, formally took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar on Monday evening. Tarkishore Prasad (BJP): Deputy CM Four-time MLAs from Katihar, Tarkishore Prasad this time won the Katihar seat in Bihar Assembly in the 2020 election defeating RJD candidate Ram Prakash Mahato by around 10,000 votes. Born in Saharsa district in the Mithilanchal region of Bihar, the 52-year-old Prasad comes from the Kalwar caste, placed under the Backward Class (BC) category which is electorally significant in Bihar Renu Devi (BJP): Deputy CM: A fourth-time MLA from the Bettiah seat in the Champaran region, Renu Devi also took oath as the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar on Monday evening. Vijay Chaudhary (JDU): Minister MLA from Sarairanjan Legislative Assembly of Samastipur, JDU leader Vijay Kumar Chaudhary on Monday evening sworn-in as the Minister under the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar. He earlier held the post of Speaker in Bihar. Vijendra Prasad Yadav (JDU): Minister Janata Dal (United) leader, Vijendra Yadav who won from Supual, sworn-in as a minister under the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar. Vijendra Yadav was the energy minister in the previous term of Nitish government. Ashok Chaudhary (JDU): Minister Ashok Chaudhary, who is the interim JD(U) state president, took oath as the Cabinet Minister of Bihar. Ashok Choudhary who has been with Congress before, started his MLA term in 2000. Sheela Mandal (JDU): Minister Sheela Mandal of the JDU took oath as the Cabinet Minister of Bihar on Monday. Mandal won from Phulparas in Madhubani after defeating Congress candidate Kripanath Thakur and Bonod Kumar Singh of the LJP. Mewa Lal Choudhary (JDU): Minister Mewa Lal Choudhary of the JDU who won from Tarapur in Munger district took oath as minister in the Nitish cabinet on Monday evening. Mewalal Chaudhary has been the Vice-Chancellor of Mewalal University and had won from the same seat in 2015 as well. Santosh Suman (HAM): Minister Son of Jitan Ram Manjhi, Santosh Suman Manjhi of HAM, took oath as the Minister of Bihar Cabinet on Monday. Santosh is a member of the Legislative Council. Mukesh Sahni (VIP): Minister Mukesh Sahni of Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) took oath as the Bihar cabinet minister. The former Bollywood set designer, popularly known as the Mukesh Mallah had lost the election from Simri Bakhtiyarpur seat. Mangal Pandey (BJP): Minister MLC since 2012, BJP's Mangal Pandey also took oath as minister in Nitish Kumar government. He has worked as Health Minister in the outgoing government. Amarendra Pratap Singh (BJP): Minister BJP MLA from Aara, Amarendra Pratap Singh took oath as Bihar cabinet Minister. Son of former Bihar CM Harihar Singh, Amrendra Pratap won the elections by a slim margin of 3002 votes. Ramprit Paswan (BJP): Minister 67-year-old Rampreet Paswan of Bharatiya Janata Party took oath as minister in Maithili this evening. He had won the election for the third time from Madhubani's Rajnagar Jivesh Mishra(BJP): Minister BJP leader Jivesh Kumar Mishra who won the elections from Darbhanga's Jale seat for the second time, took oath in Nitish government this evening. Ram Surat Rai (BJP): Minister Bharatiya Janata Party's Ramsurat Rai, who won election from Aurai Assembly defeating CPI's Muhammad Aftab Alam, also took oath as a minister in Nitish Kumar Cabinet.
