Bihar Battles Monsoon Woes As Health Centres Get Flooded, Houses Collapse, Roads Submerge [WATCH]

Bihar is witnessing incessant rainfall for the past few weeks and many houses have collapsed due to soil erosion.

Patna: The country is preparing for the third wave of Coronavirus, states are focusing on enhancing the health infrastructure, governments are working to improve the economy of the respected states but Bihar is battling different woes. Houses collapsed, health centres washed away, no electricity, roads crooked, waterlogging everywhere is the current reality of Bihar.

The state ruled by the Nitish Kumar government is experiencing incessant rainfall for the past few weeks which has flooded major areas of the city and the rising water levels of rivers shows the alarming situation the residents are going through.

On Sunday, a house collapsed in Bhawanipur, Motihari as incessant rainfall lead to a rise in the water level of the Sikrahna (Burhi Gandak) river, leading to soil erosion at river banks. The house was damaged due to heavy rainfall and unoccupied at the time of the incident. Though there was no loss of life the situation is getting worse in the state.

On Saturday, a Sub-health centre was washed away by floodwater in Darbhanga district's Atihar village.

Most of the rivers in North Bihar are above the danger mark

Many rivers are in spate due to heavy monsoon rains in North Bihar. Gandak, Budhi Gandak, Kosi and Bagmati have crossed the danger mark in many districts.

According to the report of the Central Water Commission, the Gandak river is flowing 99 cm above the danger mark at Dumariaghat in Gopalganj district. There is no possibility of any immediate reduction in its water level.

At the same time, Budhi Gandak is flowing above the danger mark at Chanpatia in the West Champaran district. The water level decreased after touching the danger mark in Valmiki Nagar. It is flowing below the danger mark at Sikandarpur in Muzaffarpur district but the water level is likely to rise.
