Kashmiri Pandits Not Begging But Demanding Their Rights: Rahul Gandhi In Jammu

New Delhi: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra reached Jammu’s Satwari where he targeted the Centre over this issue of Kashmiri Pandits saying that the government has been doing injustice with the people of the community. 

Addressing a public rally in the town after covering 22 kilometres on foot, Rahul said, “The government is doing injustice to Kashmiri Pandits.”

“I was surprised when I came to meet them and they told me that when their delegation went to meet the Lieutenant Governor, he told this delegation that they should not beg,” he said. 

“I want to tell LG that they are not begging, they are asking for their rights. LG should apologise to them, the Wayanad MP added.

Cornering the Centre, Rahul said that Jammu and Kashmir “is being run from outside” and added that Jammu has the highest rate of unemployment in the country. 

Referring to the abrogation of Article 370, the Congress MP said that “there is no bigger issue than that of statehood and we will fight to restore it.”

Before addressing the public, Rahul Gandhi offered a floral tribute to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on his 126th birth anniversary. 

He thanked the people for giving love to his journey and said that he learnt a lot from this Yatra which started four months back. “Farmers explained to us the country's policy, traders explained about GST and Covid.”

“As I said, I have come to open a shop of love in the market of hatred. We saw this shop in every state. Democracy is under attack and you understand this. We wanted to speak on the issues of the country but the microphones were switched off in the Lok Sabha,” he said during the event. 

He also targeted the government over Agniveer policy saying “they did not understand the ethos of the army. It takes seven to eight years to learn any work. Army is a family. The army fights on the strength of relationships and it takes years to build and strengthen a relationship. The BJP did not understand. It takes years for the army to become a soldier and a relationship starts forming,” he said.

“It is weakening the army. All the soldiers know it but they won't speak,” he added.
