Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra: Rahul Gandhi Sets Foot In Bihar After Nitish Kumar's Flip-Flop
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi enters Bihar after 2 years as 'Bharat Jodo Nyay' Yatra entered Bihar through Kishanganj on Monday.
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi reached Bihar's Kishanganj on Monday via the West Bengal border setting foot in the state after two years with his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra a day after Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's switch to the NDA.
His rally in Bihar started from Kishanganj, a district heavily populated by Muslims and a Congress stronghold, reported news agency PTI.
The Bihar leg of the tour just came in a day after the states's political crisis, which witnessed the party's former ally Nitish Kumar joining hands with the BJP-led NDA.
The Congress leader resumed his yatra in West Bengal's Chopra and entered the Bihar border via National Highway Kishanganj by bus. From there, he will begin his padyatra from N.H. Kishanganj to reach the Shaheed Ashafakullah Khan Stadium for the flag handover ceremony.
According to Congress legislature party leader Shakil Ahmed Khan, Rahul will address a public meeting in Kishanganj which will be followed by a big rally in Purnea district on Tuesday and Katihar on Wednesday, reported PTI.
State Congress President Akhilesh Prasad Singh said that Rahul will leave for West Bengal on Thursday via Araria district and return to Bihar via Jharkhand in a few days, PTI reported.
The party's alliance partners in Bihar, CPI(ML)-L general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya and RJD president Lalu Prasad, have been invited to the rally at Purnea.
According to State Congress leaders', JD(U) president Nitish Kumar, who was also an ally till he did a volte face, also accepted the invitation to the rally,PTI reported.
Bharat Nyay Jodo Yatra is scheduled to take a break at Budhimaari, Kishanganj, after the flag handover ceremony and resume the yatra by bus at 2 p.m. from Tupamari village.
The padyatra will begin at 4:30 p.m. from Zero Mile to Chandni Chowk in Aaria, Bihar which will be followed by a public address, after which it will halt at M.L.D.P.K. Yadav Inter College in Aaria for the night.
