End Of An Era! Famous Astrologer Bejan Daruwalla Passes Away; All About India's Veteran Fortuneteller

Despite being a Parsi, Bejan Daruwalla was an ardent follower of Hindu Lord Ganesha, who believed that Life is a sum of caring and daring approach.

New Delhi: World famous Indian Astrologer Bejan Daruwalla breathed his last on May 29 at a private hospital in Ahemadabad. The 89-year-old admitted to the Apolo hospital, was on ventilator support after complaints of breathing congestion for past few days. Though there are no confirmed reports, but some speculations suggest that the revered astrologer was infected with COVID-19 virus. Born on July 11, 1931 as Bejan Jehangir Daruwalla, the renowned astrologer hailed from a Parsi (Zoroastrian) background. He is the patron to Maharaj Kunwar, Prince Lakshyaraj Arvind Singhji Mewar, City Palace, Udaipur. Daruwalla is now survived by his wife Gooli who is also a tarot card reader; and to sons Nastur and Ladsaria who also also indulged in astrology. Till his very last breadth, Dariwalla preached of three main principles of leading or lives. He said that it is important to have an open mind; secondly – to observe things, and thirdly – to research quietly and completely, and then give the predictions. Bejan Daruwala As A Professional Astrologer Bejan Daruwalla was actively involved in learning and practising astrology and changed the lives of many. He earned trust across the globe through his detailed analysis of planetary positions and predicting its effects on the world. He was famous for combining the principles of Vedic and Western astrology, I-Ching, Tarot, Numerology, the Kabalah and even Palmistry. With the right combination of these principles, he made highly accurate and relevant predictions. Bejan was closely associated with a number of newspapers, magazines, television channels and publishing houses all over the world. The Penguin Book, “Change Your life” has mentioned Bejan as one of those who could motivate and inspire others to give their very best. He appeared on NBC and ABC TV channels in Columbus, New York, Ohio and was featured on the BBC, in Hard Talk India. Bejan regularly contributed astrology based columns in various publications across India and globe. These included: Dainik Bhaskar, Times of India, Hans India, Speaking Tree, Divya Bhaskar, The Sunday Times of India (Bombay, Kolkota, Delhi, Chennai), Telegraph (Kolkota), Navhind Times (Goa), Dell Annual Horoscope (New York), News India (New York), Berkley Communications (London), besides others A PhD holder, Daruwalla also worked as a professor of English in Ahmedabad. His affinity with politicians, and Bollywood film starts was well known. In 2015, Daruwalla revealed that PM Narendra Modi had shown him his palm, and the reading showed that the leader possessed great strength and personality. Popular figures such Prince Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, Sushil Kumar beside others were Daruwalla’s regular clients. Awards And Achievements Bejanji's achievements and accuracy have been appreciated and acknowledged by many. Daruwalla had earned the highest degree of Vedic Astrology – Jyotishi Mahahopadhyaya. In August 2000, he was honoured with the title of "The Astrologer of the Millennium" by Bharat Nirman, an all Indias organization that promotes and takes up constructive program in all walks of life. Daruwalla was also conferred with the ‘Best Astrologer Award’ for the year 2009 by the Russian Society of Astrologers of St. Petersburg. Bejan was also awarded in absentia the Babasaheb Ambedkar Noble Award in April 2017.
