Batla House Encounter: Ariz Khan Convicted For Killing Inspector Mohan Sharma To Be Sentenced On March 15

Batla House Encounter: A Delhi Court on Monday convicted Ariz Khan, allegedly associated with the Indian Mujahideen terror outfit, for the murder of inspector Mohan Chand Sharma in the September 2008 Batla House encounter case.

The court, which convicted 35-year-old Ariz Khan under various Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPS), including 302, besides Section 27 of the Arms Act, will likely pronounce the sentencing on March 15 as per multiple media reports.

Ariz Khan alias Junaid was arrested by the Delhi Police’s Special Cell from Nepal in 2018. He had a reward on his head of Rs 10 lakh by the National Investigative Agency (NIA) and Rs 5 lakh by the Delhi Police.  

Ariz Khan was present at Batla House, along with four others, but managed to give the cops a slip during the encounter, according to police.

Inspector Sharma was martyred in the encounter, which had taken place between the Delhi Police Special Cell and alleged terrorists at a flat, in south Delhi’s Batla House on September 19, 2008.

Two alleged terrorists were also shot dead in the encounter, which took place six days after serial blasts ripped through the national capital.
