'Very Painful, When Will He Learn': Ravi Shankar Prasad Hits Back At Rahul Gandhi's Remark
Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya said that workers from the opposition parties are joining the BJP, attracted by the welfare schemes launched by PM Modi for all sections of society.
New Delhi: A war of words erupted between BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over the Congress leader's remark made in Varanasi.
Reacting to Gandhi's statement, BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad said,"This is deeply distressing. When will Rahul Gandhi grasp? How could he make such a remark, suggesting that the youth in UP are consistently inebriated and under the influence? What sort of language is this?...Is his purpose solely to demean others?...I denounce this."

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also took a dig at Rahul Gandhi, saying, “Has the Congress government given MSP and bonuses to farmers? If the government faces any issue that makes Congress happy. They are not concerned about the country they only think about the BJP. Rahul Gandhi insulted the youths of Uttar Pradesh during his ‘Nyay yatra,’ He (Rahul Gandhi) opposes the Ram Mandir, the abrogation of Article 370 and the scrapping of triple talaq..."

Earlier, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's constituency Varanasi during his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra on Tuesday. Speaking at Sonia Gandhi's Lok Sabha constituency Raebareily, Rahul said that he saw people dancing drunk on Varanasi streets.
Rahul Gandhi remarked: "I visited Varanasi... Instead of progress, I witnessed a scene where individuals, Uttar Pradesh's future, lying drunk on the streets, dancing in the grip of alcohol."
"On the other hand, Ram Mandir is being inaugurated in Ayodhya. You will find Narendra Modi, Adani, Ambani... You won't find people from the backward classes, adivasis, or Dalits...," he said.
Stampede-Like Situation In Opposition Parties: Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya
Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Wednesday asserted that there is a significant influx of members from opposition parties into the BJP. "A stampede-like situation is being seen in the Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and Congress due to people from these parties joining the BJP", PTI quoted Maurya as saying.
Standing alongside Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and BJP's Uttar Pradesh unit chief Bhupendra Chaudhary, Maurya highlighted that workers from Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, and Congress are gravitating towards the BJP, attracted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's welfare initiatives benefiting all segments of society.
Maurya noted the defection of several leaders from these parties to the BJP, emphasizing a trend of shifting political allegiances. Additionally, he expressed confidence in the BJP's prospects, predicting victory in all 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh during the upcoming general, as per PTI.
