'Waqf Bill To Humiliate Muslims': Owaisi Tears Bill Copy In Lok Sabha — Watch

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi symbolically protested against the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025 in Lok Sabha, tearing up a copy of the bill, citing Mahatma Gandhi's resistance to unjust laws.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi staged a symbolic protest against the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025 during the debate on the legistion in Lok Sabha.

Participating in the late-night debate on the contentious Bill on Wednesday, the Hyderabad MP referred to an example of Mahatma Gandhi during his stay in South Africa.

If one reads history, one would find what Mahatma Gandhi had said about the laws of white South Africa, he said.

"Mahatma Gandhi had said 'My conscience doesn't accept this' and he tore it up," Owaisi said. "Like Gandhi, I am also tearing up this law," the Hyderabad MP said as he teared up the copy of the Waqf Bill in symbolic protest.

"This is unconstitutional. The BJP wants to create divisiveness in this country in the name of temples and mosques. I condemn this and I request you to accept the 10 amendments," he added.

Owaisi also claimed that Bill aimed to humiliate and reduce Muslims to a second-class citizen.

“Yeh Bill ka maqsad sirf muslamanon ko zaleel aur ruswa karna hai, musalmanon ko dusre darje ka shehri banane ka inka maksad hai (The objective of this bill is to insult and humiliate Muslims and make Muslims second-class citizens).
