Vishwas my younger brother, nobody can separate us: Kejriwal on reports of rift in AAP

NEW DELHI: Rubbishing reports of a rift between him and party collegue Kumar Vishwas, AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said Kumar is like his younger brother and nobody can separate them. "Kumar is my younger brother. Some people are showing a rift between us, such people are the enemies of the party. They should desist. No one can separate us." he tweeted. After the smoldering discontent in Delhi's ruling Aam Aadmi Party was out in open after the defeat in MCD polls, it's being said that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal may quit as the national convenor of AAP. Voices of dissent seem to have started appearing with leaders suggesting that Kumar Vishwas be appointed party convenor and Kejriwal should focus upon governing Delhi. AAP leader Kapil Mishra said,"AAP is a democratic party where every member has the right to put their views across. It does not mean there's any rift in the party." "Suggestions for a change have come and party is heading towards that. Even Arvind ji has said that change is the only constant. But what will it be, time will decide," he added. Mishra said there may be differences of opinion among leaders but the party stands united. "Changes have started taking place at the organisational level. People have taken responsibilities for Delhi and Punjab loss," the water minister said. AAP has suffered a string of defeats since last two months. It performed far below expectations in Punjab, drew a blank in Goa, where the party fancied its chances before polls. With poor show in MCD polls, it lost the good faith and trust that the Delhi voter had put in them in 2015. Kejriwal, who had blamed EVM tampering for loss, on Saturday admitted that the party made some crucial mistakes which led to their heavy defeat in the civic polls. He asserted that it’s time to get back to work. “In the last two days, I spoke to many volunteers and voters. The reality is obvious. Yes, we made mistakes but we will introspect and course correct. Time to go back to drawing board.. It’s time to get back to work. And even if we slip from time to time, the key is to find the reserves to hold and pull ourselves up. People deserve nothing less. The only thing constant is change," he said. Earlier, senior AAP leader Kumar Vishwas had raised doubts about the party's ability to win elections and said the AAP should do soul-searching for the repeated defeats. He suggested that the party should consider taking drastic steps, including leadership change, if it wants to remain viable in the political arena. The AAP leader had also questioned Kejriwal’s defense for losing Punjab elections, Rajouri by-poll, as well as the MCD elections. In the recent past, other AAP leaders have also been critical of the party’s views on the poll debacles.
