Delhi Court Order On CM Arvind Kejriwal's ED Custody In Liquor Policy Case Shortly

The Rouse Avenue court on Friday reserved an order on Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) sought custody for 10 days.

Delhi CM Arrested: The Rouse Avenue court on Friday reserved its order on Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) sought custody for 10 days which will be pronounced shortly. Earlier in the day, the AAP supremo had withdrawn his petition from the Supreme Court seeking bail in the excise policy case, the case in which the central agency had arrested him last night.

It is believed that the Delhi CM is all set to move a trial court. The development comes hours after the apex court denied bail to BRS MLC K Kavitha in the excise policy case, the same case in which Kejriwal was arrested. Denying her bail, the Supreme Court had asked Kavitha to approach the trial court.

Earlier in the day, the Delhi Chief Minister, who ignored nine summonses from the Enforcement Directorate before his dramatic arrest late last evening in connection with the alleged liquor policy scam, withdrew a Supreme Court petition challenging his arrest.

It was already expected that Kejriwal would approach a trial court in accordance with protocol. The Chief Minister appeared before a special court dealing with the probe agency's cases.

The legal team of Delhi CM has said there is no reason why Kejriwal - whose arrest weeks before a general election has sparked furious nationwide protests - cannot continue as Delhi Chief Minister, NDTV reported citing sources. As per the report, the Delhi CM is only accused, and has not been convicted.

The Aam Aadmi Party had insisted that come what may Kejriwal - who is the first sitting Chief Minister to be arrested - would function as the head of government, even if it meant doing so from inside jail.

Scores of AAP workers and Delhi Ministers - Atishi, who slammed the Delhi CM's arrest a "political conspiracy" and Saurabh Bhardwaj - were detained while leading a massive protest in the national capital.
