'Are You Getting Cable At Rs 100?': Sidhu Takes Shots At Channi Govt Again, Asks Bikram Majithia To Face Law

He also dared senior Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia, who has been charged under the NDPS Act, to face the law.

New Delhi: Taking shots at his own party's administration, Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu inquired on Sunday if people were getting cable TV and sand at the recently stated low prices.

He also dared senior Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia, who has been charged under the NDPS Act, to face the law.

While addressing a public meeting at Batala in Gurdaspur, Sidhu said, "There may be many announcements. Are you getting cable at Rs 100? Are you getting sand free of charge, its price is Rs 3,700-4,400 (trolley)."

Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi declared last month that the monthly cable TV connection fee would be fixed at Rs 100. He further stated that sand will be sold for Rs 5.50 per cubic foot (verify).

Sidhu argued that if his 'Punjab model' of government is approved by the party leadership, a sand trolley will be available for Rs 1,000.

"This is why I am telling you it will not work with mere talk. It will come with a policy and budgetary allocation it won't work with 'jugaad'," the Congress leader said.

'Where Are You Bikram Majithia?': Sidhu Targets Akali Leader

Sidhu stepped up his attack on Majithia, saying that simply filing an FIR against the Akali leader was not enough.

"Where are you Bikram Majithia?" the Congress leader asked, daring him to come out and face the law. "If you have guts, remain at home. Are you scared," he asked.

On the basis of a 2018 status report of a probe into the state's drug racket, Majithia has been charged under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

Majithia's anticipatory bail request was recently denied by a Mohali court. He has also been issued a lookout circular, which stops him from leaving the country.

"Nothing will happen with the FIR. Unless he (Majithia) is arrested, Sidhu will not rest," Sidhu added.

"Punjab's land is being looted even today, and the state is being mortgaged," he alleged.

Meanwhile, Sidhu vowed minimum support prices for oilseeds and pulses if his party comes to power, claiming that no other political party has provided a blueprint for the farming sector.

Sidhu claimed that because Batala is recognized for its foundry sector, the local industry would be allowed to acquire the lowest power available anywhere in the country.

He also warned the crowd not to fall into the trap set by AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal. Sidhu slammed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for failing to deliver on his promises to the people of the national capital.

Sidhu remarked that if people wanted to safeguard Punjab's next generation, punish people like Majithia, get justice in sacrilege cases, and provide jobs for the youth, they should elect an honest person to the top.

"The chief minister does everything, he has absolute power," he said.

"If you make an honest person sit at the top, then honesty and transparency will percolate down below," the Congress leader said.
