Annamalai On Days After Resignation As Tamil Nadu BJP Chief: ‘I’m At Peace With…’

His remarks came just a day after Tamil Nadu BJP President Nainar Nagendran hinted that Annamalai may be given a different responsibility within BJP.

Former Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai, known for his fiery political presence and grassroots campaigning, appears to be embracing a quieter chapter in life following his recent resignation from party leadership. During a visit to the Annamalaiyar Temple in Tiruvannamalai, Annamalai spoke candidly to reporters about his current lifestyle—one marked by reflection, family time, and farming.

'No Longer Bear Burden Of Leadership Post'

“I’m at peace with the sheep and the cow,” Annamalai said with a smile, explaining that he has returned to his agricultural roots and is enjoying a slower pace of life, as per a report on ABP Nadu. “I’m spending time with my children, reading, being a father and a son, and sitting down for long meals with my parents. This life feels right to me.”

His remarks came just a day after Tamil Nadu BJP President Nainar Nagendran hinted that Annamalai may be given a different responsibility within the party. While no formal announcement has been made, speculation is rife about a possible new role for the former IPS officer-turned-politician, known for his organisational acumen and combative stance against the DMK.

“I come to the temple, I meditate at the Ramana Ashram, and I travel across India and even abroad when needed. I continue to carry out the tasks assigned to me by the party. I just no longer bear the burden of a leadership post,” Annamalai said, reflecting on the freedom he now enjoys.

Despite stepping down from his leadership role in April 2025—amid speculation of internal party restructuring and alliance realignments with the AIADMK—Annamalai remains committed to the BJP's broader vision. He reaffirmed his dedication to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying, “I want to serve Modi as a servant. I have a strong desire to see change in Tamil Nadu, and I believe that time will come.”

Annamalai’s resignation, which he framed as a voluntary decision, was met with high praise from Union Minister Amit Shah, who credited him with expanding the BJP’s footprint in the Dravidian heartland. Shah also indicated that Annamalai’s leadership skills would continue to be valued within the party.
