Amritpal Singh To Land At Assam's Dibrugarh Airport At 12 Noon, To Be Whisked Away To Central Jail

After landing at the Dibrugarh airport, Amritpal Singh would be whisked away to the high-security Dibrugarh Central Jail amid tight security where nine other members of his outfit are currently lodged.

Guwahati: Fugitive pro-Khalistan preacher Amritpal Singh, who has been on the run Since March 18, was finally arrested from Punjab’s Moga on Sunday morning by a combined team of Punjab Police and national intelligence. The Punjab Police have booked the pro-Khalistani leader under the National Security Act (NSA). A highly placed source in Dibrugarh told ABP LIVE that the Khalistan sympathiser is now being flown to the Mohanbari airport in Assam’s Dibrugarh district in an Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft amid tight security cordon.

The source also revealed that Amritpal Singh is being brought alone in the IAF aircraft and scheduled to land at the Dibrugarh airport at around 12 noon.

After landing at the Dibrugarh airport, Amritpal Singh would be whisked away to the high-security Dibrugarh Central Jail amid tight security where nine other members, including his close aide Papalpreet Singh and Uncle Harjeet Singh, of his outfit ‘Waris Punjab De’, are currently lodged.

Other than Papalpreet Singh and Harjeet Singh, seven other members of the outfit, who are lodged at the Dibrugarh Central Jail, are Daljeet Kalsi, Basant Singh, Gurmeet Singh Bhukhanwala, Bhagwant Singh, Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal, Gurinder Pal Singh, and Varinder Singh.

Amritpal Singh, who is an expert in changing appearances and giving the police a slip, was declared a fugitive in March, the very day Punjab Police launched a massive manhunt across Punjab and other adjoining areas to nab him.

However, being on the run by changing various locations with the help of his reliable and close aides and travelling through several nearby states, Amritpal Singh finally surrendered before the Punjab Police on Sunday morning and was arrested from the Moga district.

The Punjab Police arrested the elusive Khalistan sympathiser from Gurdwara Janam Asthan Sant Khalsa of Rode village in Moga, which is the native village of slain militant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.

Amritpal also released a video shortly before his arrest where he justified his decision to evade being arrested by the Punjab police.

Amritpal Singh is facing at least six cases currently even as the Punjab Police have invoked the stringent National Security Act (NSA) against him.

The cases have been registered in Amritsar Rural and Jalandhar Rural police districts. His aides and supporters also face multiple cases.
