Amitabh Bachchan's Bodyguard Jitendra Shinde Gets Transferred Over Reports Of 'Rs 1.5 Cr Annual Income'

The Maharashtra government is finding out if the police authorities were aware that he is drawing a second salary from another source, which is prohibited under state service rules.

Mumbai: There is hardly any occasion when Bollywood stars are seen roaming without their entourage of bodyguards. There is always one prominent face in the swarm of people guarding the actors, and it’s not surprising that many of these faces rake in crore in their earnings.

Jitendra Shinde, a head constable with the Mumbai police, in charge of veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has been transferred to DB Marg Police Station by city Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale after reports claimed that he was earning an annual income of Rs 1.5 crore, according to the Times of India report.

What’s the reason behind transfer of Amitabh Bachchan’s bodyguard?

The Maharashtra government is enquiring if Police authorities were aware about his annual income and his assets and if he was drawing a second salary from another source, which is prohibited under state service rules.

According to the publication who spoke to IAS official, Shinde, who had remained with Bachchan since 2015, has been shifted under its routine shuffle and the new guidelines prescribed by Nagrale. According to the new rule, no police constable will continue on the same post beyond five years, as per the report

However, the transfer order came amid reports about the head constable’s alleged income.

Bachchan security comes under X-category, which means there are two constables with him per shift, and Shinde was one of them. The official revealed that it is in the process of conducting a departmental probe against Shinde over his annual income and assets. Apart from Shinde’s incomes, a separate input has come to the police department regairding Shinde’s wife running a major business which is into providing security guards to personalities.

The official clarified that there are no specific or concrete information at present. Based on the reports in a section of the media, a show-cause notice will be issued to Shinde to secure basic information from him.

The authorities are keen to know if, despite the state government paying him a regular salary, how he can accept an additional monthly salary from some other agency. As per Maharashtra’s service rules, a government servant cannot accept a salary from two establishments. The future course of action will depend on his reply to the show-cause notice, as per the ToI source.

Going by the reports, Shinde has remained Bachchan’s trusted guards who travelled with him for all his work assignments.
