AAI Says ‘Possibility Of Flight Resumption Soon’, Issues Passenger Guidelines; Imp Details

According to the official notice issued by the Airports Authority of India, the passenger will have to mandatorily follow these guidelines.

New Delhi: In the wake of long-continued coronavirus pandemic, all commercial passenger flights were suspended when the Central Government the government imposed a 21-day lockdown till April 14 and later extended it by 19 days till May 3, to contain the spread of COVID-19 infection. After over 50 days of nationwide lockdown, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has anticipated possible resumption of domestic flights soon. In order to maintain the norms of social distancing, AII on Friday issued fresh rules and guidelines which need to be followed by each passenger while travelling through air. Taking to their official twitter handle, AII said "With the possibility of resumption of domestic flights soon, the AAI has released some steps that must be followed so passengers are fully geared up while travelling." According to the notice issued by the authority, the passenger will have to mandatorily follow these guidelines while travelling through air.

Complete List Of Guidelines To Be Adhered By All Passengers:

  • It is compulsory for all the passengers to download the Aarogya Setu
  • In order to avoid possible transmission of the COVID-19 virus through papers, passenger are requested to do a web-check in and carry a print out of their boarding pass before heading to the airport to catch a flight
  • Travellers must maintain a distance of four feet from co-passengers
  • Flyers have to wear a mask and other protective gear
  • Air travellers would be permitted to take up to 350 ml of hand sanitiser on a flight.
  • Passengers are suggested to wash or sanitise their hands frequently
The government run body, AII reports to the civil aviation ministry. It looks after the development and maintenance of more than 100 airports across the country. The guidelines come a day after national carrier Air India opened bookings on Thursday. In a twitter post, Air India said, "Reservation for travel from India to select destinations in USA,UK,Australia & to Frankfurt, Paris Singapore & Canada will commence from 1700 hrs on 14th May 2020."
India has been under lockdown since March 25 to curb the coronavirus pandemic. The virus has infected more than 81,900 people and killed around 2,600 people in the country till now.
