Ahead Of Vaccine Roll-Out, PM Narendra Modi To Chair Key Meet With CMs Today

This will be Modi's first interaction with chief ministers following the recent approval of two coronavirus vaccines for restricted emergency use by India's drug regulator.

Covid-19 Vaccine: As India is gearing up for the rollout of its massive vaccination drive against Covid-19 pandemic, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with chief ministers of all states on Monday to discuss the situation and the vaccination roll-out in the country. Information regarding the same was shared by the Prime Minister’s Office on Friday. This will be Modi's first interaction with chief ministers following the recent approval of two coronavirus vaccines for restricted emergency use by India's drug regulator. India is preparing for the roll-out of COVID-19 vaccines and the second nationwide mock drill on the drive was conducted on Friday. The two vaccines that have been approved by the drug regulator are Oxford vaccine Covishield, being manufactured by the Serum Institute, and indigenously developed Covaxin of Bharat Biotech. The prime minister has often spoken with state chief ministers following the pandemic's outbreak in the country. Timing:  The Prime Minister will chair the meeting slated to begin at 4 pm. He will be apprised by the CMs on the roll-out of coronavirus vaccine as well as the COVID-19 situation in their respective states. The digital meet would be significant, coming ahead of the roll-out of two COVID-19 vaccines from January 16. Seventh such meet between PM and CMs The PM has spoken at least six times with the Chief Ministers through videoconference following COVID-19 outbreak in the country at the beginning of 2020. Three rounds of the dry run of the immunisation drive have so far been conducted across the country. There is still a week's time to improve on the weak areas identified during these drills.
