ABP CVoter Survey Assembly Election 2022: With months left for the much-crucial assembly elections in Goa and Manipur, ABP News, along with CVoter, conducted a survey to gauge the mood of people in the two poll-bound states.
Assembly elections are due in five states including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa, and Manipur in the early months of 2022.
Goa Assembly Elections 2022:
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Goa and Manipur is likely to retain power amid a close-knit electoral contest in Manipur when the two states will go for polls next year.
According to the survey, in the 40-member Goa Assembly, the BJP is likely to win 19 to 23 seats, Congress 2 to 6, while Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will bag 3 to 7 seats.
BJP is likely to sweep the polls with a 37.5 percent vote share, followed by AAP at 23.6 percent and Congress at 18.6 percent.
In Goa, the ruling BJP will be contesting its first Assembly election after the death of former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, one of the tallest leaders of the party in the state.
The BJP is facing challenges from Arvind Kejriwal's AAP and Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress along with the Congress party in the state.
Manipur Assembly Elections 2022:
The ABP News C-Voter survey also predicted close, but a satisfactory win for BJP in Manipur Assembly Polls. According to the survey, BJP is likely to win 25-29 seats, the Congress 20-24, Naga People's Front (NPF) 4-8, and others 3-7 in the 60-member Manipur Assembly.
In terms of vote share, the BJP is projected to get 38.7 per cent votes, an increase of 2.4 per cent as compared to 2017, while the Congress will also witness a decline in its vote share from 35.1 per cent in 2017 to 33.1 per cent in 2022 elections.
Manipur election results become significant for the BJP as it signals the geographic diversity of the saffron party's ability to beat anti-incumbency across many regions of India.
Meanwhile, Congress has pitched in Jairam Ramesh to oversee election preparations.
